Description:

The Department of Arts Administration, Education, and Policy invites applications for a full-time, tenured or tenure-track faculty member to begin in August 2017. The successful candidate will teach undergraduate and graduate courses in contemporary theory and museum education, including online courses in our growing distance education programs. We seek candidates whose research interests examine the implications of contemporary theory for museum studies and/or frame the museum as a social institution, an educational setting, or a site of both cultural transformation and community. The successful candidate will oversee the Museum Education and Management Specialization; serve on graduate committees; advise students; provide service to the department, university, and community; and present and publish original research in the areas of museum education, art education, and/or arts management on a regular basis and ultimately provide national and international expertise in the area.

Qualifications:

Salary and rank will be commensurate with the candidate’s experience and qualifications. Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Museum Education, Art Education, Arts Administration, or a related field at the time of appointment; experience and expertise in museum education; experience teaching at museums, cultural arts organizations, and/or other cultural arts venues and a strong scholarly agenda. Preferred applicants will have experience mentoring and/or teaching members of underrepresented groups, evidence of leadership skills, and a record of scholarly publications.
