AAEP Announces 2019 Outstanding GTA Award Recipient Miranda Koffey

The 2019 AAEP Barkan Award & Marantz Award Ceremony will be held this Friday, March 29 from 12:30 - 3:30 p.m. in the Barnett Collaboratory on the first floor of Sullivant Hall. This event is open to graduate students, alumni, and faculty of the Department of Arts Administration, Education and Policy.

The Department of Arts Administration, Education and Policy at Ohio State's Graduate Studies Committee has selected PhD student Miranda Koffey as its 2019 Outstanding GTA Award nominee. Commensurate with this honor, Miranda will deliver a brief lecture -- titled Fostering a Creative Student through Play: What Doesn't Change by College from K [pdf] -- alongside Barkan Award recipient Christopher Jeansonne and Marantz Award recipient Dr. Melanie Buffington at the department's 2019 Barkan & Marantz Award Ceremony this Friday.

Miranda earned her BA in Art History and MA in Art Education from The Ohio State University in 2012 and 2018, respectively. She has taught art making and art appreciation to students at multiple grade levels, from pre-school to undergraduate. Miranda presently teaches Art Education 3900: "Art and Curriculum Concepts for Teachers" and Art Education 2367.03: "Criticizing Television" as a Graduate Teaching Associate for the department. Her PhD research interests include creating and exploring narrative through and with artmaking; critical race studies in art, art education and art practice; and feminist narrative and visual culture of the modern occult
