Submit your self-nomination by January 30 for consideration

Every year, the Graduate Studies Committee will award up to $4,500 to assist one advanced doctoral student in completing and defending their dissertation by the end of the award year. This award is to be used exclusively for academic and living expenses incurred during the award period. Applications will be weighed based on a qualitative evaluation of the student’s dissertation project as well as the student’s academic record. Students should submit self-nomination materials to Lauren Pace by January 30. Your email should include three items: the first three chapters of your dissertation, a timeline to dissertation defense signed by your advisor and a written letter of self-nomination which should address how your research will make a strong contribution to the field.

To apply, you must have:

  • completed all required coursework
  • full-time student status during the award period
  • devote no less than 50% of your time to completing your dissertation
  • passed Candidacy Exam before the end of autumn semester
  • not have passed the Final Oral Exam before the end of Fall semester
  • current status as a PhD student specializing in Art Education

You will not be considered if you have not met all of the criteria for the award.
