Dr. Smith-Shank Named Kenneth Marantz Distinguished Fellow

Dr. Smith-Shank with fellow award recipients Enid Zimmerman, Mary Stockrocki, and Marjorie Manifold

Debbie Smith-Shank was one of three scholars chosen by the United States Society for Education through Art (USSEA) Fellows Nominating Committee to be a Kenneth Marantz Distinguished Fellow in the inaugural class of this award. Her recognition was a special occasion this year as the award ceremony was given in honor of Ken Marantz, who passed away in 2014.  Dr. Marantz founded USSEA and was a professor and chair of OSU’s Department of Art Education.  The award was presented at the NAEA conference in New Orleans by Dr. Enid Zimmerman to Debbie, Mary Stokrocki, and Marjorie Manifold.

This fellows program is designed to recognize exemplary service and leadership contributions to the field of culturally inclusive art education and to USSEA.
