Biyun Zhu is a PhD student in Arts Administration, Education and Policy and is also a second year Barnett Fellow. Hailing fromfrom Beijing, China, Biyun earned a Masters Degree in Public Policy from King’s College London and a Bachelors Degree in Cultural Industry Management from the University of International Business and Economics. Before the PhD program, she worked as an intern in the Ministry of Culture in China and UN ESCAP in Bangkok. She has also worked for the Half the Sky foundation for a year. These experiences accumulatively enabled Biyun to gain an interest in cultural diplomacy and management of arts non-profit organizations. In the PhD program, Biyun wants to discover more about how different countries try to promote their national images by utilizing different policy instruments and programs.
