This event is open to graduate students, alumni, and faculty of the Department of Arts Administration, Education and Policy.The Manuel Barkan Fellowship is a competitive grant that supports the academic and living expenses of a doctoral candidate who is completing his/her dissertation in the field of Art Education. This year two PhD candidates will be honored: Xiaoxiao Bao and Amanda Tobin Ripley. Xiaoxiao will present on her dissertation titled, Into the Streets: Walking Narratives of Art and Communities in San Francisco’s Chinatown. Amanda will present on her dissertation titled, "Another World Is Possible": Liberatory Unionism in the U.S. Art Museum Labor Movement.The Marantz Distinguished Alumni Lecture Fund was established in 1999 with gifts from Harold and Kenneth Marantz to honor a distinguished alum of the program who is chosen by current graduate students. This year's recipient is Dr. Terron Banner (PhD, 2019) who will present From Hierarchy to Reciprocity: New Frameworks for Arts Engagement. PhD candidate Alice Cheng is this year's AAEP Outstanding GTA Award recipient and will present on her teaching practice.
