2026 Barkan and Marantz Award Celebration

The Department of Arts Administration, Education and Policy and its graduate student group Arts Priori are pleased to announce the 2026 Barkan and Marantz Award Celebration. This event is open to graduate students, alumni, and faculty of the Department of Arts Administration, Education and Policy.

The Manuel Barkan Fellowship is a competitive grant that supports the academic and living expenses of a doctoral candidate who is completing their dissertation in the field of Art Education. PhD candidate Lynn Robinson has been selected as this year's recipient and will present on her dissertation, Manifesting the Village: Black Othermothering, Arts-Based Interventions, and Capacity Building Toward a Village Learning System.

The Marantz Distinguished Alumni Lecture Fund was established in 1999 with gifts from Harold and Kenneth Marantz to honor a distinguished alum of the program who is chosen by current graduate students. This year's recipient is Dr. VerĂ³nica Betancourt (PhD, 2019). 

MA Art Education student Lydia Gokey is this year's AAEP Outstanding GTA Award recipient and will present on her teaching practice.
