This course introduces topics and issues in contemporary feminist theory in the context of cultural policy. Organized under broad themes, the readings are intended to foster interdisciplinary discussions and explore diverse theoretical, methodologies, and philosophical perspectives. Students will be introduced to key debates shaping conversations at the intersection of feminism, the arts, cultural politics, and policy. We will explore cultural policy through an intersectional and transnational feminist lens, considering issues and theories, including gender, race, class, sexuality, nationalism, postcolonialism, populism, precarity, immigration, and disability. By the end of the course, students will gain a deeper understanding of
debates surrounding feminism in culture, along with how feminist theory both informs and responds to cultural policies.
