2012 Barkan Award

On April 17, 2012, PhD student Manisha Sharma was awarded the Manuel Barkan Dissertation Award.

The award was established in 1995 by Theresa (Toby) Barkan Willits to assist the candidate with research and living expenses during their final dissertation year. To be nominated, a candidate must have finished all course work, passed the candidacy exam and written the first three chapters of the dissertation. The faculty voted on the most promising dissertation based upon the first three chapters and self-nomination letter.

After enjoying lunch in the Barbie Tootle Room at the Ohio Union, students and faculty from the department listened to Manisha's presentation on "Indian Art Education and Teacher Identity as Assemblage: Narratives from a Postcolonial Globalization Discourse." Manisha is advised by Dr. Kevin Tavin.

Congratulations, Manisha!
